Sterling Forest State Park
Whether you are looking for an isolated area, wide-open landscape, lush green forest, or cliff with a river running through it – Sterling Forest State Park is one of Upstate New York’s most diverse, scenic outdoor film and photoshoot locations. Covering over 30,000 acres in the Shawangunk Mountains region just north of NYC, this massive park offers plenty to do in any season. In addition to hiking trails and some old carriage roads, there are two major waterfalls to explore (Ravena Creek Falls and Vernon Cascades), as well as swimming holes like Beaver Pond that are perfect for hot summer days. Plus, it’s home to unique wildlife like coyotes!
Harriman State Park
It is no wonder that Harriman State Park is a go-to location for any production seeking picturesque backdrops. These are just some of the reasons why you should consider using Harriman as a location, but keep in mind this list doesn’t even come close to covering all of its perks.
-The Historic Landscape: Harriman’s beautiful scenery has captivated directors, photographers, and producers for years. There are an endless number of scenic views to choose from, and everyone will be perfect for your needs.
-The Variety: There are more than 250 miles of trails available at Harriman, so finding a great spot shouldn’t be difficult! If there is something specific you’re looking for, don’t worry because there is likely an area within the park that will accommodate your vision. Just remember; it might take some time to get where you need to go since each trailhead offers a different destination! But, with a little effort, you’ll find what you’re looking for.
From beginner-level trails to advanced routes, Harriman has everything you need. Whether you want to spend the day enjoying nature or have a challenging hike ahead of you, Harriman State Park is perfect for both. Come visit today and see what we mean!
Bear Mountain Bridge Walkway
This walkway is a multi-use path spanning between two townships – Harriman, NY, and North Tarrytown, NY. On top of being a great film location, it’s also one of the longest pedestrian bridges in America. It can be used as a boardwalk to get to restaurants and shops on both sides of the river or as an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Depending on your needs, there are options for you!
Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site
Erie County’s Washington’s Headquarters State Historic Site is a perfect location for photographs with beautiful hills and trees. Whether it is a romantic engagement session or a wedding, this backdrop has proven to be exceptional. In addition, the small-town feeling in Hamburg makes it even more desirable. There are some restrictions on what is allowed during public hours of operation so if you want to schedule your photoshoot please call ahead of time to speak with one of our stewards on duty. One of the most notable locations at Washington’s Headquarters is Mount Gulian overlooking the town and Lake Erie. It was completed in 1759 as a Dutch Reformed Church but was burned down by British forces when they invaded Buffalo during the War of 1812. Today, visitors can view this old site while taking in views that rival any other destination north of NYC.
